Description

The UQP will help keep your underquilt clean and is great for helping retain warmth in your underquilt on windy and/or rainy days. The UQP is designed to cover a full-length underquilt, not the hammock body. The protectors have shock corded side adjusters to snug up the protector to the underquilt. Each end has ample shock cording to attach to the hammock suspension.  The UQP’s are made with DutchWare Argon 90 fabrics and produced by 2QZQ Hammock Specialties.

  • Weight of Argon 90 UQP Gathered End – 5.4 ozs.
  • Comes in its own mesh stuff sack
  • Dimensions: 54″W x 98-100″L

Installation Suggestions:

  1. Hang hammock and underquilt
  2. Use underquilt hardware to attach one end of the UQP (with the shock cord pulled out and the fabric gathered together) to the hammock suspension as close to the hammock as possible.
  3. Attach the other end of the UQP the same way as step 2.
  4. While laying in the hammock, determine if the bottom of the UQP is too tight or loose to the bottom of the underquilt. Adjust the shockcord appropriately so the UQP hangs evenly across the length of the underquilt.
  5. Cinch the side adjusters to raise the sides of the UQP to the desired tension.

Hey guys you have a typo on the product name (Protector) I know you see these comments so just trying to help you spot it easily.

  2. Yi-Ju Tsai

Does it work on a 12ft hammock?

    • DutchWare Gear

It will depend more on the size of the quilt and not the hammock itself. I had it on a hammock gear standard size quilt and that is 78″ long. I did have plenty of room for more. It does have a complete shock cord channel but you should be fine fastening it to a 12′ hammock.

  3. coronabeach1

Would this fit a Clark hammock with an underquilt? Thanks?

    • Carolyn

It should fit as it does have a lot of width to it. If you decide to purchase it and run into any issues please email me at sales@dutchwaregear.com and we will go from there.

  4. Lyle Brooks

    Is this material water repellant?

I’ve been out when it was windy and raining….and woke up with the underquilt soaked from the blowing rain (which came under the tarp). Was looking for something that would provide some form of rain protection for those conditions.

    Would this product repel water?

    • Carolyn

It is not waterproof as it is made out of ARGON 90 and this material is wind resistant and will repel water to a certain extent as it has DWR finish.

  5. lepine.martin

Would it be possible to get this in any of your argon90 colors?

    • Carolyn

If you would like additional colors I would check out 2QZQ’s options.

  6. wanderlust234

What are the dimensions of the underquilt protector?

    • Carolyn (verified owner)

It is about 98-100″ in length and 54″ in width.

  7. kim.kangasniemi (verified owner)

Is this the version that can hold a sleeping pad?

    • Carolyn

No it is not. You will need to go to 2QZQ’s site for that.

  8. Marshall Moore

Would it fit on a Ridgerunner ?

    • Carolyn (verified owner)

We carry the version for the gathered end hammock. If you go to 2QZQ’s site you will find the option for a bridge hammock available.

  9. Zinger (verified owner)

I am using this for the intended purpose – blocking wind and as an added protection from mosquitoes attacking from below. The wind blocking works and allows me to use a short quilt and still get some extra warmth by reducing the effects of the wind. Normally mosquitoes are a nuisance but in my area we currently have a EEE threat so the added layer is well worth the weight penalty.

Will this fit the Sheltowee underquilts you sell?

    • Carolyn (verified owner)

It will cover the quilt part of the sheltowee but not the whole piece of gear.

  11. Philip Blount (verified owner)

Can you get this in Woodland Camo or privacyx?

  12. Charles Osborn

Would it be safe for the material to “Scotchguard” it to hel it repel water more?

    • Dave Gantz

It has a DWR coating, so we only suggest additional DWR repellency products.

  13. brownrl

Do under quilt protectors ^boost^ the temperature rating of an under quilt? I have a good UQ that I like that is pretty ok down to -1c. Some nights though we can hit -5c here in Belgium. Not sure that I want to go full stop and buy a new under quilt but interested if a quilt protector would get me that extra oomph that I need?

    • Dave Gantz

The underquilt protector is wind resistant, so it will add a layer of wind protection resulting in just a bit of added warmth as well.

  14. gtsk.wandou

Does it work on a wide Chameleon hammock?

  15. jaybuckman1971

When will the camo be available??
    3/24/21

    • Dave Gantz

It should be available within a few weeks.

I’m chasing a UQ Protector for a Pad, from 2QZQ, for a Clark TX-250 as a more tropics-friendly alternative to a Z-Liner. They seem to be sold out of everything. Are they still operating? They don’t seem to deal with international buyers either?

  17. Jenna Kinyon

Can this be ordered in Dutch’s print 2 order fabrics?

  18. Elijah Kraatz (verified owner)

During an intense storm on a recent thru hike of Vermont’s Long Trail I woke to find that I was in the middle of about 10-12″ of water flowing around my hammock. I had hung my hammock low so that I could spread my tarp as wide as possible knowing it was going to pour. What I didn’t take into account was that I had set up in an obvious flood plain. There was a campsite so…
Anyway, when I woke to the sound of rushing water my butt was about 2-3″ under water. Thankfully I had put on my 2QzQ UQP! If I had not my quilts would have been soaked. This is a fantastic piece of gear!!!

  19. jefferson.kirkland

Are there any plans to do a zip on UQP for the Chameleon series that works like the zip-on UQ? That thing is magic!

    Thanks,

    ~jtk

    • Alex Thomas

As of right now, we do not have any plans to do this.

  20. Benjamin Diebold

Will this work well with the *quilted* chameleon?

    • Alex Thomas

Yes. The underquilt protector works great for the quilted chameleon.

  21. temptingthemuse
