Yes, this can be used on either side of the hammock. You can put one on each side if you’d like.

Does the side sling hang outside or does it zip into the banyan letting you access the contents anytime?

The side sling zips to the banyan and hangs outside of the hammock. However, it’s made so you can access the pocket from inside the hammock or outside.
