I am mildly “big and tall” at 6’3″ and 220lb and have been using mostly 12′ hammocks because of this. I have only had one 11′ hammock that was comfortable (from a competitor…), so I was hesitant to try this one. With all the positive reviews of the Hellbender, I rolled the dice and got this in the 1.6. I am so happy I did! I do not really care for bug nets or covers and I already have all the underquilts I need, so this fits the bill for me in that regard. Comfort wise, it is perfect. It may not be as roomy as the Hellbender reviews I looked at suggested (my feet cannot be separated without effort), but it is an extremely flat and comfortable lay. An unexpected bonus is it is actually more comfortable to simply sit in to put shoes on too due to the cut. This is now my go to recommendation for anyone wanting to try hammocks out. For anyone wondering, I weighed it at 12.91 oz with a peak shelf inside the stuff sack.

I’ve had the hammock for about 10 days now and have slept in it every night. This hammock is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on! Ive set tile for 20 years+ and my back and knees are not great. But laying in this hammock I can feel no pain lol.. I’m 5’11, 170 and have tried two other cottage vendor hammocks which were both good but this one is even better. Laying flat, my knees don’t give me any issues like they usually do and waking up my back feels better than it has in a long time. Somehow its even more comfortable than my wide hammock when laying on my side. Thank you Dutch and crew for the amazing nights rest!

If you are attaching a regular underquilt are there any special adjustments/consideration to account for the asymmetrical design?

No. The quilt will hang just fine like most other gathered end hammocks.
