Nylon or Polyester?
admin –
It is super soft nylon taffeta. We have had it for a while and it has been getting great reviews from the vendors. It has a very tight weave and the calendared version is downproof. We are also using it for hammock bodies because it is so soft.

Great Product, Great ServiceI really like this new fabric. It has a very soft hand, and it’s a great price. I also really like the fact that it is opaque.
Most of the UL fabrics that we DIY’ers have access to are all fairly transparent. I don’t mind that most of the time but this type of fabric really gives our projects a different, and sometimes, a more professional look.
It also helps that we don’t have to worry about matching threads for anything that’s on the inside of the project, such as insulation quilting/stabilizing stitch lines, serger thread colors, etc.
I would love it if this fabric came out in additional new vibrant colors such as reds, yellows, greens blues, etc.
Overall, this is a great product. Strongly recommended.
Kudos, too, for DutchWare’s amazing service. I accidentally forgot to include my unit number and the package could not be delivered. Dutchware immediately sent it back upon its return there. Great company!

I was wondering how heavy this fabric is, is it as light or lighter than Aragon 90 or 67?
Thank you.
Alex Thomas –
This fabric comes in at 1.1 ounces per square yard. ARGON 90 is .9 ounces and ARGON 67 is .67 ounces.

I was just about to order up some Moroccan blue Ion fabric, but it was unfortunatly out of stock. Any idea or estimate when it will be back?
Regards
DutchWare Gear –
We do have it in stock and you should be able to order it now.

I bought this for the inside of my diy quilt. Which side will be on my skin? The shiny or dull side?
Alex Thomas –
You would want the dull side against your skin.

What’s the air permeability (windproodness; typically reported as CFM ) of Ion?
DutchWare Gear –
We have not tested this on Ion so we will not have these numbers.

What is the load rating for use as a hammock?
Carolyn –
it will be weight rated at 200lbs and if you are making a hammock out of the Ion fabric I would recommend the uncalendared as it will be more breathable.
Christopher Guynn –
Can you please update your stock numbers on this product? I’d like to get some but it looks like the majority of the colors are out of stock?
benenelane –
What denier is the Ion fabric?
Carolyn –
It is 20D

I’m looking to make sheet for my sleeping pad (sheet is between me and pad). Would you recommend the calendared or uncalendered for this?
Carolyn –
Either would work for you as it is not being used in conjunction with down.
cosette –
Do you still sell the uncalendared version of ion? Is this coated with any chemical treatment (dwr or similar)? Finally, are there any special washing/care instructions? Thanks!
Dave Gantz –
We may have some left, so we will send you a direct email with more information.

Think this product is great for that 1st time diy guy. Affordable but also great quality. I made 2 under quilts. I highly recommend this fabric
Dave Gantz –
Thank you! Feel free to share photos of your quilts!

I bought some Ion in Moroccan blue to make a hammock sock. I like the feel of this fabric. As mentioned, it lets a lot less light through than other fabrics of similar weight. It is easy to work with, although it does like to fray on cut ends. Use a hot knife if you have one, otherwise you will want to overlock edges. looked like I was turning into Cookie Monster with all the blue threads that frayed off as I was working on the sock. I did a stuff sack, using the hot knife, and it was much better.
Thanks for innovating, Dutch!

On the spec page it says the HH is 0. Is it correct that this fabric is not at all water resistant?
Alex Thomas –
Correct. This fabric is not water resistant at all.
greenwoz (verified owner) –
Is there any DWR used on this? Thanks!
Alex Thomas –
There is not a DWR on this fabric.
