Description
Spider Web 1.5 webbing is the newest and lightest hammock suspension webbing on the market. It has a 1000-pound breaking strength and weighs just 1.5 grams per foot. The weave on this webbing is extremely tight compared to other webbing. It has almost no stretch and doesn’t absorb much water. This makes it ideal for hammock suspensions.
Tree straps have one 3.5-inch loop on one side and the other end is cut straight.

I was thinking of using the Spiders with this Spider Web (1.5″ ?) Seems like an obvious match. But Spiders are a type of cinch buckle. So would that combo not work?

Correct, we do not suggest using buckles with these straps.

If I select “sew on clips” do they come sewn on or will I have to sew them on?

These straps do work with the Marlin Spike Hitch, just be sure to attach the Whoopie Slings to the knot, not the toggle.

Our straps have a sewn loop on one end, while our huggers have a sewn loop on both ends.

No it does not. Polyester webbing and Spider/Poly webbing work well with this Spiders.

Do these work well with a becket knot? Does the knot hold or will it slip?

Yes this works with the becket hitch; it is best practice to include a backup knot.

These straps are hard to beat for size and weight when packed. What caught be off guard was how these straps feel like ribbon you’d use to wrap a present, yet they hold me up. I did have a becket hitch slip on me twice with these straps, but it was very late and night and I was rushing things so that probably has something to do with it. Also, if you have branches touching these straps (due to wind) they will make the oddest noises, like a guitar string. It makes sense that being so light and under such tension (230 pounds) it would be like a guitar string being rubbed or plucked, but I wasn’t expecting it before hand.
TLDR: super light and super compact. Your knots have to be on point and cinched pretty hard before you put any weight in the hammock. Doesn’t suffer fools.
Update on 2022-05-20:
I recently slept for two nights during a camping trip with these straps in the humidity and the rain and they didn’t budge. I think my previous issues came from being new to tying the becket hitch and trying to do it in the middle of the night. This time, I made sure the knots looked good before I put weight on them and they stayed true and solid the whole trip. I highly recommend these straps!

Thoughts on replacing the hammock continuous loop with an amsteel soft shackle, then securing the soft shackle to a Marlin Spike Hitch in the Spider webbing?

Hey there. You can easily hang your continuous loop onto the Marlin Spike Hitch – however, a soft shackle made of Amsteel 7/64 or larger would also work.

I went hiking for a few days and tried out the Spider Web 1.5 Straps. I used the becket hitch to hang my hammock and it held very well. The only thing is I had to pull really hard to undo the knots. Also, I had to smooth out the straps where the knot was tied, so I could roll them up flat. Other than that, the straps performed as expected.

Would this strap work with an Aducthable clip? Don’t know if that is the correct spelling. Replacing worn Kevlar straps with the sew on / Aducthable clip. Thank you.
